9:00 AM ~ YMCA at 151 McIntire Park Dr, Charlottesville
Gather at the Y parking lot (carpooling and public transport encouraged) to set intentions for peace.
9:30 AM ~ Peace Walk to the Live Arts Theater
Join the Peace Walk, along the scenic 1.7 mile route to the Live Arts Theater on 2nd Street. Go at your own pace along sidewalks and nature trails from McIntire Park, Schenk Greenway and downtown neighborhoods.
11:00 AM -12:30 PM: Youth Panel at Live Arts Theater, 4th Floor
Panel Conversation with local youth and community leaders on “The Courage to Be.” Facilitated by Freddy Jackson, Founder of Love No Ego Foundation, alongside Bonita Patton, VP of Community Engagement of Piedmont Family YMCA, the session will take place at Live Arts Theater in the 4th Floor Theater. The discussion will feature participation from local youth leaders and community voices, including Mayor Juandiego Wade, Dr. Royal Gurly, Dr. Matthew Haas, Price Thomas and local high school students. The panel will explore what it means across all ages to live courageously in today’s environment.
